Note:
Both parties must be eighteen (18) years of age or older.
Where do I obtain a marriage license?
If both parties are Rhode Island residents, you may obtain your marriage license in the city or town in which you reside.
If both parties are NOT Rhode Island residents, your marriage license must be obtained where the ceremony is to take place in Rhode Island.
If both parties are residents of Pawtucket or the wedding ceremony is taking place in Pawtucket, you may obtain a wedding license at the following location:

Marriage License Hours:
Monday-Wednesday: 8:00a.m.- 4:00p.m.
Thursday: 8:00a.m.- 5:30p.m.
Friday: 8:00a.m.- 12:00p.m.
What do I need to obtain a marriage license?
- Certified birth certificates of both persons—long form only, wallet sized cards not accepted.
- Valid Government Issued Photo Identification for both persons.
- If not the first legal relationship, a certified copy of Final Divorce Decree/Dissolution or Certified Death Certificate from previous relationship must be provided.
Note:
Documents may need to be translated. If translation is required, documents must be the original certified
documents, accompanied by a certified translation.
How long is my marriage license valid?
A marriage license is valid for ninety (90) days from the date issued, and if not used, should be returned to the place of issuance.
What is the cost of my marriage license?
The cost of a marriage license is $24.
