Visitors can experience art galleries across the city, attend performances, and hear live music. The City&#8217;s infastructure is also infused with art, such as murals along the I-95 corridor and throughout the city.\u00a0 Mayor Donald R. Grebien has been proactive in creating an artist friendly environment in the City.<\/p><p>On a state-level, in 1998, the Rhode Island General Assembly passed a law creating a 307 acre Arts and Entertainment District in the City\u2019s historic downtown. The Rhode Island General Assembly enacted legislation, signed by the Governor to allow artists to sell art work throughout the state without charging sales tax.\u00a0 However, for artist (eligible to participate) living within the City\u2019s legislatively designated district, the law exempts them from paying state income tax on the income generated from their creative work, specifically in the
